How can you serve your clients when you don’t know who they are? Check out the advice from our guest blogger Hayley Klees on finding your ideal client and getting in front of them!
How many times have you heard the term ideal client? Chances are, a few hundred, especially if you are in the online entrepreneurial world. But what is an ideal client? And how the heck do you go about finding your ideal client?
I have invited Hayley Klees on the blog today to talk to us about just this thing!
Hayley is a wildly positive Virtual Assistant who spends most of her time creating! She specializes in – you guessed it – content creation by creating tangible tools to help her clients “wow” their audiences!
Enough from me, let’s get to all the goodness Hayley has for us today!
Are you a new business owner or female entrepreneur looking to change the world with your products or services?
Once you figure out what you are offering to your audience, then it’s time to develop a plan or strategy to get your business in front of your viewers!
However, not EVERYONE is going to be the right fit for what you have to offer and that’s ok!
Finding your ideal client and learning to market to their specific needs and wants creates quicker growth for your company. And, hey – who doesn’t want that?
So let’s dive in!
The first thing you will want to do is to create your customer avatar. No, I don’t mean the blue aliens from the Disney film, but rather think of your avatar as your ideal client!
An avatar is a visual representation or image of who you are speaking to when developing and marketing your brand. Your customer avatar is a profile of the perfect person who would support your business!
The goal is to be as specific as possible by narrowing down every small detail about them, including their qualities and characteristics.
Bring her persona to life. Tell us her backstory, why she’s stuck and what is she after!
Here’s a few questions to ask yourself when creating your avatar for your ideal client:
Remember, the more specific you are in who you are speaking to – the more people you will reach faster! Only speak to this avatar whenever you post on social media.
People these days are overloaded with information being thrown at them. In order to stand out to your ideal client, you need to speak to their pain points.
By first developing your avatar, you will be able to determine just what it is that your customer is struggling with. Once you figure out a problem they are struggling with in their life, dig deeper into the WHY behind it.
Anyone can talk about a problem, but it isn’t until you directly touch on the emotions behind the issues that people will begin to remember you!
Once you begin talking about your ideal customers’ pain points, explain a plan to solve these problems and how their life can look after!
I like to use the “Feel, Felt, Found” method when discussing this with customers.
For example, “I used to feel the same way when I went to the gym. I hated all of the equipment being used when I needed it and felt it was a waste of my time having to run on the treadmill when I really wanted to be using the free weights to build muscle. It wasn’t until I found the at-home workouts that I begin to get better results in a much shorter amount of time.”
Let them know WHY they need your product or services and how their problems can be solved with your offer(s).
Lastly, don’t forget to be where your ideal clients are! With so many social media platforms out there these days, it can feel overwhelming trying to be on every single one. If your customer mainly hangs out on Facebook or Instagram, stick to those and forget about the rest.
Get started today building your customer avatar and learning to speak to their pain points…your business will take off before you know it!
Wow! Are you as blown away as I am?! Hayley more than knows what she is talking about and I hope you learned as much as I did! If you want to learn more about Hayley, you can follow her on Facebook!
